Information
So here is what I know so far. The status of our deployment in Honduras is in the process of changing. A friend of Ian's named Dave Lambert also sent me information stating that he is "working with a group of retired Officers, SpecOps, and others to get everyone that served in Honduras from 1982-1992 the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal if you had not already received it. " He also stated " We are automatically qualified for the JMUA. "
I am posting the link to a shared drive below that has the DD Form 149 along with all sorts of information of what was going on while we were there.
How to.
To amend your DD 214 using DD Form 149, you must download and complete the current version of DD Form 149 from the official DoD forms website, gather extensive supporting evidence (like orders, certificates, and awards) from your personnel file to prove the alleged error or injustice, and submit the completed form and evidence to the correct Board for Correction of Military Records (BCMR/BCNR) for your specific service branch, with the Army and Air Force offering online portals for submission.
1. Obtain the Correct Form and Evidence
-
Download DD Form 149:Get the most current version of the form from the DoD Forms Management Program webpage.
-
Gather Evidence:Collect all documents that support the correction you are requesting. This can include:
- Your DD 214
- Active duty orders
- Awards and certificates
- Medical records (if related to a medical condition)
- Statements from witnesses or detailed arguments supporting your claim
- Other relevant documents from your personnel file
- Your DD 214
2. Complete and Submit the Application
-
Fill out DD Form 149:Provide only the relevant information and clearly explain the error or injustice in your record.
-
Submit Supporting Evidence:Attach all the supporting documents you gathered in Step 1 to your application.
-
Submit to the Appropriate Board:Send the completed application and supporting documents to the Board for Correction of Military/Naval Records (BCM/NR) for your service branch.
- Online Submission: The Army and Air Force provide online portals for applications, which is the preferred method.
I will try to find better information as I go along.
